The Senate is moving forward with an amendment that would allow for the Dakota Pipeline to proceed after a lengthy legal battle.
The vote on the amendment was 48-47 with Republican Sen. Mike Rounds voting no.
The Senate voted 52-48 with Democrats voting yes.
President Donald Trump, along with other Republican leaders in Congress, are seeking to overturn the U.S. Supreme Court’s 2016 ruling that blocked construction of the Dakota pipeline, saying it would undermine their efforts to build a border wall and force Mexico to pay for it.
Trump has said he would approve the pipeline if he’s elected.
