After years of being sidelined in a variety of industries, Pip Claslin was finally given a chance to return to the limelight when she became the latest star to make her way to the forefront of the tech world.
Claflin is the first of three women to receive an award at CES 2017.
The third woman to receive a CES award is Anya Koga, who was named the 2017 Woman of the Year.
Clawing back tears, Claflins husband, Jason, was there to welcome her.
Jason told me he was “very proud” of his wife, and how she was “one of the nicest people I’ve ever met.”
“Pip has a very clear vision for what she wants for herself,” Jason added.
“She believes that she’s going to have to work really hard to get where she wants to be and that’s a pretty exciting path for a woman.”
Claflins vision is not the only thing she has to work on, though.
The 27-year-old’s father, Paul Clafl, is the former CEO of Nestlé and the former President of the American Chemical Society.
Claflis father, a physician, is also the director of the Center for Innovative Medicine and Health at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.
In 2016, Claslins father died at the age of 95.
While the loss of Paul Clasl is devastating, his wife is still determined to reach the same goals she started her career at age 17.
Clasls dad is survived by his wife and children.
“I’m a big believer that you need to be in the best shape of your life,” she said.
“I want to be able to go back to my roots, to be back in the mountains where I started, and to start making my own way again.”
For now, Clslin has a job that will take her to the mountains.
Her husband is a part-time software engineer at the company where she worked before she became a celebrity.
Her dad passed away in January.
“He loved her,” Jason said.
Clslins father is a big proponent of being a part of the family, and so are her siblings.
Cllys siblings are all very excited to get to work.
Claslin said she loves to be part of something, but she has a strong desire to work for the rest of her life.
She told me she is working on getting her degree and taking classes to get her masters.
She hopes to be an entrepreneur by the time she graduates.
Clifton has worked in a wide variety of different fields, but has always had a strong passion for the outdoors.
She said she always wanted to go out in nature, but that the challenges of working in an office environment, with lots of people watching her every move, was too much.
“The only thing I could think of to do was to do a little bit of traveling,” she explained.
“But the things I love most about going out are the camaraderie and the camper vans and the people you meet.
It’s always been something I’ve been very passionate about, and that was something I just never had the opportunity to do before.”
It is a sentiment shared by others in the tech industry.
A lot of companies and organizations are investing in technology and bringing in a new generation of female entrepreneurs.
Cliflins success at CES this year was another sign of this.
“When she started, she wasn’t very famous,” said Ellen DeGeneres, who attended CES as an observer.
“Then she became one of the most recognized people in the world, and now she’s in the spotlight.”
Cliflins work at Nestlé, where she is a VP of corporate strategy, was also highlighted by Ellen DeGolia, who said, “I really think it’s really awesome to see a woman who’s been around the business and the world of tech, who is also a mother and a grandmother and a big fan of her company, who has such a huge heart and she cares so much about her people.
It really shows that the business world is a family, too, and she’s just one of those great, amazing people.”
