It’s been awhile since the last major government shutdown, but it’s looking like the next one may happen soon.
And the reason is, there are lots of reasons to call them gas pipes.
According to CNN, “the Federal Aviation Administration is considering a proposal that would make it illegal to fly aircraft in the United States if there is a potential for a gas leak.”
The FAA proposal would also make it a felony to use a gas-powered jet or helicopter.
The FAA would also ban people from using their own power sources like microwaves and electric vehicles.
Other laws could be in place.
The Trump administration has already proposed new laws to crack down on the gas industry, and it’s not like we haven’t seen similar proposals before.
But the latest proposal comes after a long string of gas-related restrictions have been announced in the last few months.
As of Monday, the EPA announced it had proposed a ban on the production and use of methane from natural gas wells and drilling rigs, as well as from fracking, a method of extracting natural gas from shale deposits.
The Environmental Protection Agency has also proposed banning hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, in federal lands and waters.
And just this week, the State Department announced it would prohibit the export of liquefied natural gas.
